- Welcome to SmallCD Version 1.4a for OS/2 2.x and above. January 1996.
-
- This is a program to play audio CD's using MMPM/2. It has been constructed
- to take up the least amount of room on your hard disk, in memory and on
- the display.
-
- The only file required to run the program is SmallCD.exe OR SmallCDW.exe.
- SmallCDW.exe has been compiled using the new compression method in Warp and
- therefore will only run if you have Warp (OS/2 Version 3.0 or above)
- installed. You can rename SmallCDW.exe to SmallCD.exe if you wish.
- If you do not have Warp then use SmallCD.exe
- MMPM/2 must be installed on the system first.
- I have not suppiled an Icon with this program as there are many suitable
- Icon's around that are much better than any I could do and this also gives
- you the option of which Icon to use without wasting disk space with unwanted
- icon's.
-
-
- Installation.
- To install the program just copy the SmallCD.exe (or SmallCDW.exe) file to
- a directory of your choice and copy a program template from the template
- folder on the desktop to the location you want SmallCD to be.
-
-
- Setup.
- There are 2 options that can be entered in the Parameters field of the
- settings notebook (ie The command line). They are 'A' for the Auto Play
- option and 'H' to hide the SmallCD window when playing starts.
- If you want to enter both options then do not put a space between them.
- (ie 'AH') If you wish to use different options all the time then create
- different program objects with different options in the parameters field
- for each setup you require.
-
-
- Operation.
- When the program is started it will appear in the bottom left hand corner
- of the screen. This is so it does not get lost in among other things and
- you allways know where to find it. There are only 5 things to press :-
- -Top Left Hand side is the system menu that all windows have. Double click
- here to close down the program or press ALT-F4.
- -Top Right Hand side is the Hide Button. Press this at any time to hide the
- window. Bring up the Task list ( CTRL-ESC or press both mouse
- buttons on the desktop) and select SmallCD to restore the window.
- -Bottom Left Handside is the Pause checkbox. Press this to pause playing of
- the CD.
- -Bottom Middle button is the Play/Stop button.(*) Press this when the CD is
- ready to play and it will start playing and press this when it is playing
- to stop.
- -Bottom Right handside is the Skip button.(>) Press this button to stop
- playing the current song and move to the start of the next song.
- If the Auto Play option is selected and there is a CD in the drive then
- play will start when the program is started or when the disc is changed.
-
-
- Limitations.
- As this program was written to take up as little room as possible ( there
- may be ways to reduce it even more) certain logic has been left out. If you
- press the pause or the play/stop button when there is no disc in the drive
- or it is not ready then nothing will happen. The program will not detect
- that there is no disc ready for playing and no warning will be given. It
- also does not have any animated graphic buttons or display's showing the
- time left for the current track. Now some people will consider these to be
- limitations but all I want is a CD player that will play CD's and not take up
- to many system resources.
