  1. Welcome to SmallCD Version 1.4a for OS/2 2.x and above. January 1996.

  3. This is a program to play audio CD's using MMPM/2. It has been constructed
  4. to take up the least amount of room on your hard disk, in memory and on
  5. the display.
  6.  
  7. The only file required to run the program is SmallCD.exe OR SmallCDW.exe.
  8. SmallCDW.exe has been compiled using the new compression method in Warp and
  9. therefore will only run if you have Warp (OS/2 Version 3.0 or above)
  10. installed. You can rename SmallCDW.exe to SmallCD.exe if you wish.
  11. If you do not have Warp then use SmallCD.exe
  12. MMPM/2 must be installed on the system first.
  13. I have not suppiled an Icon with this program as there are many suitable
  14. Icon's around that are much better than any I could do and this also gives
  15. you the option of which Icon to use without wasting disk space with unwanted
  16. icon's.

  19. Installation.
  20. To install the program just copy the SmallCD.exe (or SmallCDW.exe) file to
  21. a directory of your choice and copy a program template from the template
  22. folder on the desktop to the location you want SmallCD to be.

  25. Setup.
  26. There are 2 options that can be entered in the Parameters field of the
  27. settings notebook (ie The command line). They are 'A' for the Auto Play
  28. option and 'H' to hide the SmallCD window when playing starts.
  29. If you want to enter both options then do not put a space between them.
  30. (ie 'AH') If you wish to use different options all the time then create
  31. different program objects with different options in the parameters field
  32. for each setup you require.

  35. Operation.
  36. When the program is started it will appear in the bottom left hand corner
  37. of the screen. This is so it does not get lost in among other things and
  38. you allways know where to find it. There are only 5 things to press :-
  39. -Top Left Hand side is the system menu that all windows have. Double click
  40.   here to close down the program or press ALT-F4.
  41. -Top Right Hand side is the Hide Button. Press this at any time to hide the
  42.   window. Bring up the Task list ( CTRL-ESC or press both mouse
  43.   buttons on the desktop) and select SmallCD to restore the window.
  44. -Bottom Left Handside is the Pause checkbox. Press this to pause playing of
  45.   the CD.
  46. -Bottom Middle button is the Play/Stop button.(*) Press this when the CD is
  47.   ready to play and it will start playing and press this when it is playing
  48.   to stop.
  49. -Bottom Right handside is the Skip button.(>) Press this button to stop
  50.   playing the current song and move to the start of the next song.
  51. If the Auto Play option is selected and there is a CD in the drive then
  52. play will start when the program is started or when the disc is changed.

  55. Limitations.
  56. As this program was written to take up as little room as possible ( there
  57. may be ways to reduce it even more) certain logic has been left out. If you
  58. press the pause or the play/stop button when there is no disc in the drive
  59. or it is not ready then nothing will happen. The program will not detect
  60. that there is no disc ready for playing and no warning will be given. It
  61. also does not have any animated graphic buttons or display's showing the
  62. time left for the current track. Now some people will consider these to be
  63. limitations but all I want is a CD player that will play CD's and not take up
  64. to many system resources.
